My Job exists

because we still don't have Abortion Rights
AND there is still a backlash against Women's liberation
AND the childcare at Manchester sucks
AND because we constantly face discrimination
AND because we deserve a proper education but we face a lot of barriers
AND because 'FeMiNiSt’ is still a dirty word
AND because when we're good we're very very good, but when we're bad we "must have PMT"
AND because our health problems are trivialised
AND because a woman can't leave her kids without being unnatural, but men walk out on their families every day
AND because how we look is more important than who we are
AND because we only get paid an average of 80% of what men do
AND because it was only in 1995 that a woman became a police chief
AND because women's work is underpaid or unpaid or boring or repetitive
AND because we are the first to get the sack
AND because what we look like is more important than what we do
AND because if we get raped it’s because we were "asking for it" and if we get bashed we must have provoked it
AND if we raise our voices we're nagging bitches
AND if we enjoy sex we're sluts and if we don't we're frigid
AND if we love women it's because we can't get a 'real man'
AND if we ask our doctor too many questions we're neurotic or hysterical
AND if we expect community care for children we're selfish,
AND if we stand-up for our rights we're aggressive and 'unfeminine',
AND if we don't we're typical, weak females
AND if we want to get married we're out to trap a man, and if we don't we're 'unnatural'
AND because we still don't get adequate safe contraception but men can walk on the moon,
AND if we can't cope or don't want a pregnancy, we're made to feel guilty about abortion AND for lots and lots of reasons like this, my University Students' Union has a Women's Officer.

Me.

I love you! You are great, in everything you do.
Manchester Uni needs you, the women students do.

But I need you too. Found a soup café today, great price, five different kinds of soup o' the day a taste guarantee (if you don't like it, you send it back and get a new one - perfect for girls who are all set to have the coriander soup and then for unexplicable reasons go for lasagne at the last minute) generally a great cosy place. But the most important ingredient was missing.

I could hardly eat my red lentil soup for that lump in my throat just kept growing.

Miss you.
